Pack your Mud Boots!

We are trying not to complain at this point...but we went so long without rain and now we can't get it to stop raining! This has made it a bit of challenge to get sale cattle clipped and ready for the upcoming bid-off sale this weekend. We appreciate everyone's patience as we get things together for the event.

Once the fog lifted this morning we were able to finish picturing everything so now we are working to upload photos and videos. We should have everything up on the blog this afternoon or later tonight. The website will be fully updated by tomorrow mid-day.Thanks for all of your interest and we look forward to your feedback on our sale offering! We hope you will come see us in Reagan... but be sure to pack your mud boots! Believe me, it may be a bit muddy but it sure will be worth the trip!

Congrats to the Bates Family!

Sunday night the Bates Family took home the banner and awards for the Grand Champion Steer at the Brazoria County Fair. This is one of the few haired county fairs left in Texas and surprisingly this fair is south of Houston on the coast... you can only imagine how hard it is for these families to have good hair this time of year with the heat and humidity they have to deal with. Job well done guys!

Austin County Win

This past Thursday Collin Tiemann was the big winner at the Austin County Fair. His calf won Grand Champion Steer honors and this is one of many Grand Champion Steer wins that Collin has had the past few years. He has started a tradition now and it looks like he is on a roll. Great job Collin!

Family's First Big Win...Tyler County 2009

Billy Foxworth told me that although this is only their second year with steers, his family has "never made the sale, much less won a class at their county fair". And this year, their steer from Tusa Show Cattle won the whole show! That was quite a win for their family and we were all very excited for them.

Here's a clip from the evening's show:

The Foxworth's purchased two steers from us this year, one which received Grand Champion Steer honors at Tyler County Fair last Friday night, while the other steer was selected as Third Overall in the Sale Order. Billy had tough luck last year, but he, Krista and the girls got to work this year. They attended one of the day camps we had and were extremely efficient on keeping up with feed schedules and reports to us every six weeks. This made a huge difference and it proved true Friday night. Emily and Morgan did an awesome job getting the calves presented and Emily went on to win Champion Junior Steer Showman. It just goes to show how showmanship makes the big difference.

Way to go Billy and family!

Bland Family wins two in a row

Grand Champion Progress Steer at the West Texas Fair and Grand Champion Steer at the South Plains Fair were the recent wins by Kacy Bland with her smokey charolais steer this fall. Kacy has been racking up the prizes with this particular steer all year. This Milkman steer was our high-seller as well as a crowd favorite in our Best of the West Sale we held this past spring. We are anxiously awaiting what the future holds for him and we wish the Bland Family the best of luck!

Diiorio earns ~$30,000 at Waller County!

Wow - way to go Justin Diiorio! This longtime client and high school senior won Grand Champion Steer at the Waller County Fair last Thursday night and sold his steer in the auction for around $30,000! That is awesome and from what we heard it set the record! We are very proud of Justin and his family. Justin has been buying from us year after year and has been successful on both the county and major show level. This year he wanted to win his county especially since it was his last go round. He also made sure to come to one of our day camps this summer to work on perfecting his showmanship skills which proved to be very worthwhile. Great job Justin - it's been a pleasure working with you!
